Bruce D. Hammock, Ph.D.
Scientific Founder
Dr. Bruce D. Hammock is a Distinguished Professor of Entomology at the University of California, Davis and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. He is Director of the Superfund Basic Research and Training Program and a member of the University of California, Davis Cancer Center Team. Dr. Hammock has been studying the impact of s-EH inhibition on various disease states for over 30 years, and is the author on over 100 publications focused on s-EH.
John Hamer, Ph.D.
Co-Founder
Dr. Hamer is currently Managing Director at Burrill & Company, a San Francisco-based Life Science Merchant Bank. Dr. Hamer came to Burrill & Company in 2003. He co-founded and served as President/CEO of Arête Therapeutics Inc. from 2002 to 2005, leading it through its start-up phase, licensing and securing the $16M Series A1 investment. Prior to joining Burrill & Company, Dr. Hamer served in various capacities at Paradigm Genetics Inc. from 1998 to 2002, including CSO and Interim CEO. Dr. Hamer received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of California, Davis and held academic positions at Purdue University including Full Professor, from 1989-2000, and currently holds an honorary position as Adjunct Professor of Biological Sciences. While at Purdue University, Dr. Hamer was a National Science Foundation Presidential Faculty Fellow and a David and Lucille Packard Fellow.
